Kadka

Director: Khalid Sultan
Duration: 28 min, 18 sec

Kadkā originally were battle songs describing the valour of warriors. But, over the centuries, it became song of prayer in the Sūfī school of thought, especially in the Dargāh of Garīb Nawāzor Khwājā Mohin-ud-dīn Chisti, at Ajmer. The concept revolves around winning the battle over the evil body and the salvation of soul. Qawwāls sing these songs every evening and enthuse the atmosphere of spiritual vision. This documentary focuses on the Sūfī song tradition, which is regularly sung in the Garīb Nawāz Dargāh of Ajmer.
