Gaj Mahotsav

Gaj Mahotsav, is a festival to celebrate the majestic Asian Elephant as India’s National Heritage animal. The celebration encompasses their salient role in ecology, as an integral part of our religion, mythology and literature. This 4 day festival being organized by Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), partnered by the International Fund For Animal Welfare (IFAW) and United Nations Environment (UNE) will see active participation from policy makers, industry leaders, Influencers from the world of entertainment, sports, arts and culture, eminent conservationists and will be open to public.

With dance and music performances to showcase the elephant in Indian tradition; films on the elephant; exhibition of elephant themed paintings and photographs by acclaimed Indian artists and children’s activities such as educative puppet shows, clay modeling sessions, art competitions, and creative writing workshops etc., the Mahotsav promises fun and entertainment for the entire family with something for everyone! Artists from across the country have created 101 life sized elephant art pieces representing the 101 elephant corridors of India, which promises to be a jumbo public draw.

The festival will showcase the grandeur of the majestic Asian elephant and its themed events with public participation will serve to reinforce its status as our National Heritage Animal!

You can look forward to amazing workshops, performances and talks by eminent personalities like – Bulbul Sharma, Delhi Blue, Anita Nair, Mike Pande, Dr.Alka Pande,Vivek Menon, Vinod Dua, Ina Puri, Mallika Sarabhai and Euphoria (the band).

Earth Witness

The PSBT film, in partnership with the Films Division, focuses on the effects of climate change. Belonging to the India’s ancient tribes, the persons living in the forests of central India face the catastrophe. The film has won the Best Film Award in the category of Climate change.

Foundation Day Celebration : Kalakosa Division

Kalakosa : Research & Publication Division of IGNCA will celebrate its Foundation Day on 27 July 2018. The day will be marked with presentations and achievements of Kalakosa Division during last one year.

A Special Lecture on Vyas (Guru-Shishya Parampara) will be delivered by Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor, Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Nagpur, Maharashtra and a music concert on ‘Sitar-Vadan’ will also be presented by Prof. Suneera Kasliwal, Dean & Head, Faculty of Music & Fine Arts, Delhi University, Delhi and her students for Foundation Day celebrations.
