Suggi Kunita (Spring Festival)

Suggi Kunita is a festival dance. It is performed by Halakki Gowdas, a tribal community of Karnataka. It is a week-long programme (moving from one place to another) and ends on the full moon day (Holi). It is performed by 35 to 40 men. The main drum used for the dance is called ‘Gummate’. Once in two years, the “Suggi Kunita” takes place.
