The sixth in the series these lectures were delivered by Lakshman Kumar Mahapatra. The first lecture is divided into two parts­ The Hindu Method of Tribal Absorption and Tribal Transformation During Colonial Times and After Independence.In these, attempt has been made to focus on Bose's ideas, values and the transformation of tribal society in India. In the second lecture Mahapatra gives his own interpretation to the situation.

Lakshman Kumar Mahapatra (b. 1929), an eminent anthropologist and educationist of international fame, has served Utkal and Sambalpur universities as Vice-Chancellor. He was engaged as the Emeritus Fellow (UGC) at Utkal University in comparative research in rural development in Indonesia and India. He has a deep understanding of complex developmental issues and problems of the tribal people of India and Indonesia. Recipient of several national and international distinctions and awards, he has authored several papers and books.
