A small shrine of the Saint Karuvūr dēvar also called Karuvūr Siddhar, built in the beginning of this century may be seen as you move to the North. There are legends about him but their historicity is not known. He was the first saint who sang in praise of the main deity of this temple, beautiful Tamil songs called Thvin-siaip-pa, i.e. sacred poems of glory. Karuvūr dēvar is considered to be a contemporary of Rājarāja.
