A National Conference on the theme \u201cPali and Indian culture\u201d is being organised by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in collaboration of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi during 22nd and 23rd of March, 2014 at the Convention Centre, JNU, New Delhi, India from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.<\/b><\/p>\n
Pali plays a vital role in the history and culture of India. The elements of Indian culture are preserved in Pali literatures. Hence, Indian culture can be understood properly through Pali literature. In fact, Pali is an important media of understanding Indian culture. People from different countries visited India to learn Pali. In ancient Indian universities, Pali language and literatures were vibrantly used.<\/p>\n
Pali is also important for understanding Buddhism. Buddha\u2019s unparalleled teachings are preserved in Pali and hence the entire canonical early Buddhist literature is available in Pali language. Teachers of Mahayana Buddhism in later period accepted the Sanskrit for their philosophical and logical Buddhist expositions, but Pali remains the actual basis for understanding the Buddhism.<\/p>\n

Programme:<\/b> Registration will be started at 8.45 AM on 22nd March, 2014 in JNU Convention Centre, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
