More down to earth and mischievous than his "older" brother, the Penasar Cenikan (or "little" Penasar) tends to humanize the action and make jokes about the story and its characters based upon contemporary parallels. In company topeng (topeng panca) and in prembon the two penasar work as a sort of stand up comedy team as they introduce and comment upon the story and its characters. In topeng pajegan, the one man form of topeng, they may alternate as they frame the entrances of the dancing principal characters of the narrative.
