The great Indian epic Ramayana is known in Thai as the Ramakien or Ramakriti. The story is known in one version or another, throughout Thailand from the earliest historical period and well before that as an oral tradition. Most well known dance performance in the world today is 'Khon'. Khon masks are made both for performance and worship.
