Thakur Dev is the God of Gond villages. In the month of Chaith, barley is ploughed at the same time when Baruwa possess Thakur Dev's spirit, only then he wears the mask of Thakur Dev. After the spirit comes down the mask is kept in devi Maria. The turban, moustache and big eye brow are the typical identity of this mask which symbolises his esteemed place.
