The concept of Ganesha in tribal society is basically an impact of folk traditions. There is tremendous influence of Ouriya folk traditions on the tribal culture of Bastar. Ouriya folk plays are well adopted in Bastar's tribal societies. Ganapati mask is a symbol in itself which denotes the adoption of Ouriyan rustic tradition in tribal cultures of Bastar. Numerous birds and animals are symbolically engraved over the mask.
