An admiral of the Eastern Wu state in a play based on The Romance of Three Kingdoms. The source story was written in the 14th Century or 15th Century CE based on historical chronicles and is traditionally attributed to Luo Guanzhong. Its 120 chapters deal with events from the Yellow Tuban rebellion in 184 CE to the unification of "the three kingdoms" under the Jin Dynasty in 280 CE. The "civil general" type represented here has a well-mannered and elegent demeanor and is used to portray an intelligent, crafty character.
