A young female general in the historical fiction Yangjia Jiang (Generals of the Yang Clan), depicting events during the Northern Song Dynasty (approx 1000 CE). When the general Yang Zongbao dies, his 100 year old grandmother his wife, Mu Guiying, rally the troops. Women generals, like youths, are mostly represented with "powder faces." The difference lies mainly in their eyes and helmets. The helmet of a female General often has dragon in addition to phoenix designs.
