On the occasion of the silver jubilee of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Media Centre is presenting a hindsight view of all the audio-visual equipment it has been using and the multi-disciplinary documentation it has done using them in 25 years. In the last three decades, the world of audio-visual equipment has undergone a sea change and audio-visual evolution from spool or VHS format to present digital format have had its varied signatures at different phases. IGNCA has been a witness to this audio-visual revolution. This exhibition provides a retrospective stopover to view how evolution took place in the last 25 years and how the world is negotiating towards future – in the digital sphere. Media Centre has been carrying out audio-visual research documentation, archiving them for posterity, post-production and dissemination of documentaries through DVD publication, Doordarshan transmission, film shows and outreach for scholars in Media Centre Library through audio-video viewing and listening counters.
