New Member Secretary Joins the Institution
Prof. N.R. Shetty, former Vice-Chancellor of the Bangalore University and an eminent academician, joined the IGNCA as Member Secretary on January 7th, 2000. He was earlier Principal and Member Secretary, Board of Governors of Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal. With specialization in the fields of Microwave Engineering and Opto-Electronics, Prof. Shetty has undertaken advanced research in the laboratories of the University of Texas at Austin as Fulbright Fellow, and as UNESCO Fellow in the laboratories of Essex University, U.K. and Standard Telecommunication Labs, England. He was also awarded a visitorship of the British Council in 1989. Prof. Shetty has been associated with many Universities and institutions of high repute. He headed a UGC delegation to establish linkage with Kryghy State National University and also visited Egyptian Universities as a member of high power delegation of UGC to establish collaboration between Indian and Egyption Universities. With a Ph.D in Microwave Engineering from IIT Bombay and over thirty five years of teaching and research experience, Prof. Shetty has edited about a dozen proceedings and contributed thirty articles in national and international journals in the areas of his specialization and also on the New Education Policy 1986 of Government of India. He has been honoured with some of the prestigious awards including the Shiromani Vikas Award, Bharatvikas Award, Bhargava Award and Bharat Rathna Sir M.V. National Parisara Rathna, among others.
