Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, GoI, hosted by its divisions viz., Janapada Sampada Division and National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM) cordially invites to join the Program.

Celebration of World Folklore Day: Essence of Oral Traditions as a Carrier of Culture

Jharkhand is a state in eastern India known for its pristine nature and boasts a rich cultural heritage that includes a diverse array of tribal and regional dance, folk songs, paintings, games, mythology, customs, rituals, handicrafts and fairs and festivals.

This lecture was organised to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and dissemination of the rich oral tradition of Jharkhand to young researchers and students. It also enhances the knowledge and encourages the young generations to undertake research on the rich cultural heritage of the state.

It was followed by the screening of documentary films on the origin of mankind and the creation of the universe according to the belief system of the Munda tribe and the Sohrai festival of the Santhal tribe.

Patriotic Songs in Regional Languages to commemorate the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign & Mera Maati Mera Desh

The event aimed to celebrate the diversity of Jharkhand’s regional languages while fostering a sense of unity through patriotic songs.

The event showcased a mesmerising array of performances, each highlighting the beauty and significance of different languages, mostly in Hindi and Nagpuri. Padma Shri Mukund Nayak and other artists from diverse linguistic backgrounds came together to pay homage to the nation’s unity in diversity. The stage was adorned with colourful decorations and representations of India’s cultural heritage.
