As a cradle of civilisation and a repository of remarkable cultural diversity, our great nation has made enduring contributions to the cultural heritage of humanity. The country’s rich legacy, spanning ancient manuscripts, living traditions, historic monuments, and natural landscapes, has earned widespread international recognition through UNESCO’s flagship heritage programmes, reinforcing Bharat’s growing role as a global leader in cultural preservation and promotion. UNESCO recognises heritage through three major programmes, namely the UNESCO World Heritage Convention (WHC), the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Convention, and the UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) Programme. Bharat has made significant contributions to all three domains and continues to strengthen its cultural presence on the global stage.
