IGNCA Book Circle @ Reference Library

Under the Outreach initiative, ‘the IGNCA Book Circle’, Kala Nidhi Reference Library organises a Book Reading Session every month.

For the month of June, 2018, IGNCA will hold a book reading session of ‘Conflict, Education and People’s war in Nepal’ by Shri Sanjeev Rai. This book presents an overview of the democracy movement and the history of education in Nepal. It shows how schools became the battleground for the state and the Maoists as well as captures emerging trends in the field, challenges for the state and negotiations with political commitments. It looks at the factors that contributed to the conflict, and studies the politics of the region alongside gender and identity dynamics.

The Journey of Bhikkhunis

The film features the empowerment of Buddhist nuns and records how nunnery came into existence by toiling through time and following His Holiness Dalai Lama’s vision. With new education apart from spiritual training, they lead a life as health workers, teachers, artists, which the film documents.

The Essence and Essentials of Yoga from Yogasudhakara of Sadashiva Brahmendra

Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre, Puducherry in Collaboration with French Institute of Pondicherry is organizing a Special Lecture  by Dr. M. Jayaraman .

This special Lecture is the part of the IGNCA exhibition titled Yoga in Visual Arts and Thoughts to be inaugurated at Exhibition House, Beach Road, Puducherry on June 21st, 2018 (June 21-30,2018) at 10.30 am on the eve of International Day of Yoga.

The Exhibition will be inaugurated by Sri V. Vaidhilingam the Hon’ble
