International Seminar

Ministry of Culture of India takes the privilege to organize a Two-Day International Seminar on “Guru Nanak: Harbinger of Humanity” to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The seminar date and month will be notified soon. The seminar will witness attendance of a galaxy of luminaries including Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the Hon’ble President of India, Shri Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Ministry of India, and other eminent scholars and experts on Sikh religious studies. It is expected that around 550 scholars and experts on Sikh religious studies to participate in the seminar from India and outside. Scholars from Various streams of Sikhism such as Udasi, Nirmala, and Sindhisto name a few. Number of books on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji will also be released. The seminar will also have representation of religious and social leaders from various religious groups and sects.

Government of India celebrates the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, throughout the country and across the globe, in a grand and befitting manner along with State Governments and the Indian Missions abroad. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of love, peace, equality and brotherhood have eternal value and this forms the basis of this International Seminar. Ministry of Culture has requested the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to be a part in the celebration of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is anticipated that the International Seminar would be graced by their august presence.

Tentative Programme :

I) Inaugural, valedictory and Two Plenary Sessions.
II) Four Parallel Sessions on the following themes:

a) Environment and Guru Nanak
b) Women Empowerment and Guru Nanak
c) Social Harmony and Guru Nanak
d) Udasis (Travels) and Guru Nanak

III) Cultural Programme based on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
