Tana Bhagat (1888-1918) was a tribal community leader of Chota Nagpur Qharkhand). A social reformer, he fought against the superstitions and drunkenness prevalent among tribals and preached non-violence long before Gandhiji. The philosophy of Tānā panthīs is: “0 God, call us towards you”. Simple living, a white flag, Sāttvik food, love for the teeming world of nature and forest, characterized tānā panthīs who revolted against the British.
