Third Professor B.N. Saraswati Memorial Lecture

The lecture is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore. The lecture will be graced by Professor Dipak Kr. Kar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Vidyasagar University as the Chief Guest. Professor Paresh Ch. Jana Dean (Actg.), Faculty of Science, Vidyasagar University as the Special Guest. Dr. Kumar Sanjay Jha, Regional Director, IGNCA RC- Ranchi as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Sumahan Bandyopadhyay, Professor & Head Department of Anthropology Director, CASM Vidyasagar University Editor, Man In India will be the Speaker of the lecture on the theme “Ingenious, Alternative, Indian: Anthropology of Baidyanath Saraswati” and Professor Onkar Prasad Former Dean, Vidya Bhavan Visva-Bharati as the Chair of the programme. The lecture aims to reflect on Professor Saraswati’s profound contributions to Indian anthropology, culture, and knowledge traditions, while inspiring scholars and students to engage with indigenous intellectual perspectives and cultural heritage.

Two days celebration of International Mother Language Day – 2026

IGNCA Regional Centre Ranchi is organizing a Two days celebration of International Mother Language Day – 2026 in collaboration with the Department of English Studies, Central University of Jharkhand.

Theme: “Mother Tongues in a Globalised World: Challenges and Possibilities”

The seminar is being organised in collaboration with the Department of English Studies, Central University of Jharkhand. The event seeks to explore the challenges faced by mother tongues today while promoting their rich potential in shaping an inclusive and diverse global future. The programme will be held over two days — on 26th February, 2026 (Offline) this program will be graced by Prof. Sarang Medhekar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi as the Chief Guest. Dr. Satyaketu Sankrit, Dean (Acad.) Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Delhi as the Keynote Speaker. The Plenary Speakers will be Shri Mahadev Toppo (Expert in Tribal Languages), Dr. Dayamanti Sinku, (Assistant Professor, Department of Ho Language, Ranchi University), Smt. Parul Sharma (Education Specialist, UNICEF, Jharkhand), Dr. Kamal K. Bose (Former HoD, Hindi Department, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi), Dr. Vinod Kumar (Head, Department of Tribal and Regional Languages, DSPMU, Ranchi), and Dr. Kumari Urvashi (Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Ranchi Women’s College).
