IGNCA Visual Art Division presents Film Screening of "M. T. Vasudevan Nair: A Momentous Life in Creativity" (documentary/English/72 minutes/2012) The Visual Arts department of IGNCA has recently completed a documentary on the Malayalam writer of iconic stature, Shri M. T. Vasudevan Nair as part of the “Great Masters” series. The “Great Masters” series focuses on the preeminent figures in the cultural domain of contemporary India. Envisaged as informed and comprehensive works on personalities who have made significant contributions to the cultural formation of contemporary India, the series has featured such illustrious figures in contemporary Indian art and culture as Bhisham Sahni, Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar, T. Brinda and B. C. Sanyal, among others. The objective of the documentation is to encapsulate in a historical perspective their life and thought. These are currently available for the public in DVD format. We cordially invite you to the premiere of “M. T. Vasudevan Nair: A Momentous Life in Creativity” (documentary/English/72 minutes/2012) in Kozhikode at the Kairali theatre on 30 May 2013 at 10 a.m. The film unravels through Nair’s own words the complexities encountered in the creative process and the formative influences that shaped his creative moorings. In a gesture of honouring the great writer, Member Secretary, IGNCA will felicitate Shri Vasudevan Nair. Dr. M. Abdul Salam, Vice Chancellor, Calicut University will release the DVD of the documentary and noted Kannada writer and jnanpith laureate, Shri Chandrashekhara Kambar will speak on the occasion.
