Lecture on Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy

IGNCA SRC organized a lecture on Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy on 28th March 2013 at Kuvempu Auditorium, Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Bangalore. Mr. Lakshmeesha Tolpadi spoke on Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy’s works and vision. Prof. S. Settar, Director (Hon.) IGNCA SRC chaired. Scholars from various institutions, colleges and students attended the function.

Suggi Kunita (Spring Festival)
Suggi Kunita is a festival dance. It is performed by Halakki Gowdas, a tribal community of Karnataka. It is a week-long programme (moving from one place to another) and ends on the full moon day (Holi). It is performed by 35 to 40 men. The main drum used for the dance is called ‘Gummate’. Once in two years, the “Suggi Kunita” takes place.

Exhibition, Stree: Archetypes Alterbodies , Twin Art Gallery, CV Mess, Janpath, New Delhi-110001. Open from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm on all days till 28th March.

The exhibition was inaugurated on 8th March, 2013 by Hon”ble Union Minister for Culture, Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch on the occasion of International Women’s Day celebrations at IGNCA. The exhibition comprises noted artist Sajitha Shankar’s paintings and drawings on archetypes and alterbodies. The section on archetypes showcases a series of works on Akka Mahadevi, the 12th century poet-saint from Karnataka and alterbodies explore diverse possibilities of body.
