Regional Centres
Bengaluru Regional Centre
The Southern Regional Centre was established in 2001 at Bangalore. This was primarily with a view to expand research activities in South India. The suggestion to start SRC came up during a brainstorming session at Delhi and was later approved by the Executive Committee. The move received a boost by the active support and initiative of the former Hon. Union Minister Sri Ananth Kumar and former Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri S.M. Krishna.
The foundation of SRC building on ten-acre land provided by the authorities of the Bangalore University was laid and the Bhoomi Pooja took place on Oct.15, 2002.
The Southern Regional centre is a nodal centre for study, research and dissemination of the arts and culture, with particular focus on South India.
