Film Circle screening of SIDIS OF GUJARAT Director : Beheroze Shroff, Duration : 53 minutes Sidis, Indians of African descent came to India via different routes and from different countries of origin, from the 13th century onwards. Contemporary African descended communities in India mostly refer to themselves as Sidis. In Gujarat, Sidis trace their genealogy to ancestral saint Bava Gor whose name is chanted in Sidi songs and dances. Sidis maintain a distinctive culture.
