National Conference : South Indian Ecology and Folk Religious Traditions Collaboration: with Pondicherry Institute of Linguistic and Culture Concept: The South Indian Society with its age old cultural traditions is abounding with religious bondage, with its ecological environment. As this Religion is known for its multiple kinds of geographical topography, tropical climates, various soil firmaments, mountains hills, rivers, ravines and rivulets, costal edges and a greater bio diversity repositories, these pose very many upheavals’ and hardships in the social and cultural living patterns which consequently cause different kinds of cognitions, beliefs, ethos and religious cult patterns. The belief, systems, their myths, worship patterns, ritual core offer a plethora for the scholars of Cultural Studies/Social Sciences. Hence, it is proposed to organize a One Day National Conference, on “South Indian Ecology and Folk Religious Traditions”. This Conference focuses on the Cultural Traditions of the South Indian Ecology and Folk Religious Traditions”. This Conference focuses also on the cultural traditions of the South Indian Societies, including the Tribal populations of the South Indian Region pertinent to the environmental cognitive acumen.

PatanPatola- Silk Craft of Gujarat The lecture was conducted by IGNCA Regional Centre, Vadodara in collaboration with the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery. The lecture began with a brief introduction to textiles in general and the peculiar characteristics of ‘PatanPatola’, followed by the screening of the documentary film on the topic. Jallianwala Bagh Centenary - Commemoration Exhibtion (1919 - 2019) Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in collaboration with The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust and National Archives of India will commemorate the 100th year of Jalianwala Bagh massacre. On April 13, 1919 more than one thousand innocent, unarmed people were killed in Jalianwala Bagh Amritsar by Brigadier General Dyer. They were fired upon for ten minutes without a warning while attending a peaceful meeting, and also celebrating the festival of Baisakhi. The horrific attack was the spark that lit the flame of India’s freedom struggle and united those determined to wrest the country’s independence from colonial rule.
