Film Screening: Ek Thi Gulab - A Film On Padma Shri Gulab Bai Of Nautanki Tradition

The film is the journey of legendary artist Gulab Bai (d. 1996), who was perhaps the first female actress to join the male-dominated Nauṭaṅkī show. Gulab will be remembered for her untiring efforts for rejuvenating the waning eclectic tradition of folk theatre, with fresh ideas, themes, innovative stylistic improvisations and linguistic nuances. She was honoured with Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, among other awards in recognition of her significant contribution.
