IGNCA Book Circle @ Reference Library

Under the Outreach initiative, the IGNCA Book Circle has a monthly event held on the fourth Thursday of every month from 4:00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

This month, Shri Ravi Shankar Etteth will read from his book `The Book of Shiva’ .

A profound work of spiritual fiction with a heartwarming message Asananda, a monk belonging to the Order of Hope, is sent on a journey to the Himalayas by his guru to find the mystical Book of Shiva. Along the way, he meets mysterious tantrics, Vedic teachers, a bhikshu who walks backwards to discover his future, and people who seek liberation from remorse, suffering and the evil that haunts them. He becomes the instrument of the guru’s grace, which opens the door to the universal soul and transforms life through unexpected miracles. Drawing on fables and myths from Eastern and European cultures, The Book of Shiva is a spiritual novel filled with extraordinary tales of freedom, serenity, loss and, most of all, wisdom.

To celebrate the Birth centenary of Venerable Bakula Rinpoche, Photo exhibition on Ven. Bakula Rinpoche is being organised by East Asia Programme Unit, IGNCA.

Ven. Bakula Rinpoche was a monk-activist, and helped the cause of peace and spread of the teaching of Lord Buddha in different parts of the world. He was associated with many national and international organizations working for world peace, environmental conservation and inter-faith dialogue. His role was pivotal in reigniting the light of Dharma among people in different countries who were denied their spiritual freedom by authoritarian communist regimes. His contributions in the revival of Buddhism in many countries including Mongolia, Russia and China speak volumes of his great personality. May his legacy of loving compassion and dedication to serve the poor and needy continue to inspire the future generations.
