Recently, conservation division has developed a painting conservation studio with all necessary equipments.Some of the activities of the painting conservation studio are as follows:
Conservation of Gond Painting
Janpada Sampada Division of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) has a vast collection of traditional paintings on canvas, paper and other decorative form. Conservation Division is taking care of these valuable art objects. Presently, the laboratory is engaged in the conservation of around 56 Gond paintings, which came in contact with water and has fungal infestation.
Conservation of Portrait of Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.L. Venkatarama Aiyyar
The Supreme Court of India had requested Conservation Division of IGNCA to provide emergency treatment to an oil painting titled ‘Portrait of Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.L. Venkatarama Aiyyar’, which is displayed in Court No. 2.
