The boatmen of Maharashtra belong to the ‘Koli community’ which accounts for a substantial number of coastal populations. The other communities of the region are known as Koli Kolis, Vaiti Kolis, Mahādev Koli, Survanśī Koli and the Mangela. Known as Koliwadas the Koli community mainly spreads in seven islands of Mumbai and they are religious people. The documentary highlights their profession and lifestyle through the rituals, celebrations, religious contexts, folklore and songs.
