The boatmen of Andhra Pradesh belong to Nolia’s community. This community is further sub-divided into two castes, Jalia and Khalashi. The film provides useful information in order to understand the lifestyle and culture of the community. They use their traditional boats – Ishuvashel and Kattuwalam. The Nolia community spreads from Amonipatnam to Naloor district. They celebrate an annual festival in remembrance of their goddess ‘Grāma Devī’.
