Paper II: Socio-Economic Life of the Tribes (5 Credits)
2.1. Rites and Customs: Birth, marriage and other social customs.
2.2. Tribal Social Institutions in India.
2.3. Tribal Belief & Systems – Witchcraft and Sorcery.
2.4. Fairs & Festivals.
2.5. Hunting, Gathering, Pastoralism and patterns of agrarian practices in tribal societies.
Paper III: Tribal Art and Craft: An Economic Dimension (5 Credits)
3.1. Methodological tools and techniques relate to tribal art, craft and culture,
ethnographic perspective on the study of tribal art and culture.
3.2. Domestic crafts for consumption and exchange – basket making, textiles,
weaving, dyeing, pottery work, metal work.
3.3. Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Musical Instruments).
3.4. Visual Arts (Folk painting & Tattoo making).
3.5. Tribal martial art forms.
Paper IV: Cultural Heritage (5 credits)
4.1. Conceptualizing Culture and Heritage.
4.2. Customary law and legal system.
4.3. Tribal culture and oral tradition (myth, epic, legends, etc).

Semester – II
Paper V: Ecology and Environment in Tribal Perspective (5 credits)
5.1. Tribal/Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
5.2. Tribal Traditional medicines and healing process.
5.3. Industrialization, mining, displacement, development and development induced displacement.
Paper VI: Practical Paper titled “Skill Development and visit to Tribal Art and Crafts Institutions. (5 Credits)
Paper 7: Management and Marketing of Tribal art and crafts (5 Credits)
