This docu-drama presents a fair knowledge of life and culture of Punjabis and their literature. Kissā – a romantic ballad or a masnavī in Persian – is a tragic story of love, valour, betrayal, passion, adventure, and the like, that form an important part of the Punjabi literature. This literary genre, which dates back to medieval times, has been much popular in Punjab. Besides, reference to the main kissās like Heer-Ranjha, Sohini-Mahiwal, there is a brief enactment of “Sassi-Pannu”, written by Hashim Shah.
