Academic Unit
The Academic Unit of IGNCA, established in 2017, was initiated to upkeep the mandate of IGNCA to document, preserve, conserve and disseminate the Indian Arts and Cultural Heritage and to train competent professionals to work in the specialized field of culture. What started with only 3 Post Graduate Diploma Courses viz. PGD in Cultural Informatics, Preventive Conservation and Buddhist Studies in 2017, the Academic Unit today has grown to several Post Graduate Diploma part-time Courses and several important Short Term Certificate Courses.

The popularity of these courses is evident from the rising number of enrolment in each academic year. With a leap of 100% in admissions and growing number of courses every year offered by the Centre.
The state-of-the-art Post Graduate Diploma Courses and Short Term Certificate Courses are based on Arts, Culture and related subjects. Immense amount of research and planning is involved in the conceptualisation, formulation, and introduction of these courses being run at IGNCA.
The Academic Unit plays pertinent role in the academic matters of IGNCA. With emphasis on interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to education, the unit ensures that the vision of this Centre is in tandem with the larger vision of the country. With this aim in mind, the courses employ modern digital tools, techniques and methodology to achieve synthesis between ancient and modern knowledge.
IGNCA is dedicated to disseminate Indian culture and knowledge to all its citizens, and to even go beyond our national boundaries in spreading our values and sharing our knowledge and understanding of the physical and the metaphysical. The Academic Unit is pledged to play its part in IGNCA’s pursuit. The Unit, an integral part of the Centre, is determined to secure, support and satiate the intellectual, philosophic and spiritual needs of the seekers.
Short Term Certificate Courses
Art encompasses a wide area of studies, such as creative literature – written and oral, visual arts – architecture, sculpture, painting, graphics, performing arts- music, dance, theatre, photography and films, festivals with artistic dimension.
In an endeavour to promote IGNCA’s mandate and to attract people towards Indian art and to nurture trained manpower in related fields, IGNCA had introduced short term certificate courses in 2019 encompassing a wide gamut of courses ranging from Rock Art Appreciation, Documentary & Ethnographic Film making, Folklore & Intangible Cultural Heritage, Screenwriting etc.
These short term certificate courses are spread across a time span of three months with approx. two-hours sessions held during weekdays comprising 4 credits with a view to provide an insight and to develop interest in the concerned areas of study. A well-designed course by expert faculty of IGNCA, eminent guests from the field of art & culture as speakers and well equipped infrastructure provides a congenial atmosphere for a wholesome learning experience.

Refund Policy
- Request for cancellation of admission received shall be considered only within 15 days from the date of commencement of the course. Thereafter, it will not be entertained.
- For request for cancellation/ withdrawal of admission received by the Academic Unit, before the commencement of the course, 100% of the fees shall be refundable.
- For request for cancellation/ withdrawal of admission received by the Academic Unit, IGNCA within 15 days from the commencement of the course, only 50% of the fees shall be refundable.
- No fees shall be refundable after 15 days of the commencement of the course.
