Hindustani Classical Music Series – Shanno Khurana
Vidhushi Dr. Shanno Khurana is a renowned exponent of the Rampur gharana and a disciple of Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan. The DVD gives a glimpse of the rich wealth of traditional compositions by Dr. Khurana. It includes an important interview in which she discusses not just what is distinctive about the musical traditions of Rampur, but comments more widely on what is the importance of gharanas in preserving the finest qualities of Hindustani music. It also includes some key bandish-es of the genres of khayaal, tappa, thumri, trivet and tarana apart from a masterly performance of Raga Chhayanat.
