Concept: Baha, the festival of flowers of Santhals is celebrated between February and March every year – the Falgun month, to express gratitude and respect to Mother Nature. “Baha” or “Baa” means flower in Mundari, Santhali and Ho.

Workshop on Payatkar Art

IGNCA Regional Centre – Ranchi is organizing a Workshop on Payatkar Art in collaboration with Kalamandir, Jamshedpur

Inauguration: 20th March 2021 at 4 pm

Concept: Payatkar painting is a primitive art tradition practised by the ‘Chitrakar/Paitkar’ community of village Amadubi of East Singhbhum, Jharkhand. The scrolls are of vertical form and the painters are referred to as ‘Chitrakars’. The chitrakars exhibit their scrolls in a torytelling manner. With a display of layered narration, (often beginning with introductory songs to accompany a sequence of unfolding events) these scrolls have an intrinsic flavour of local oral history.
