Pali plays a vital role in the history and culture of India. The elements of Indian culture are preserved in Pali literatures. Hence, Indian culture can be understood properly through Pali literature. In fact, Pali is an important media of understanding Indian culture. People from different countries visited India to learn Pali. In ancient Indian universities, Pali language and literatures were vibrantly used.
Pali is also important for understanding Buddhism. Buddha’s unparalleled teachings are preserved in Pali and hence the entire canonical early Buddhist literature is available in Pali language.
