Lok Gatha Utsav - Festival of traditional arts and crafts

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Rashtrarishi Nanaji Deshmukh, IGNCA in
collaboration with Deendayal Research Institute is organising Lok Gatha Utsav..

Inauguration on 28th November, 2017 at 5.00pm.

The focus of the festival is on oral epics, ballads, and legends in performance, arts & crafts traditions of folk and tribal communities of India. Around 500 traditional folk artists from all over the country will be invited to present the rich traditional cultural heritage of India built around their narrative traditions. This festival will offer a rich variety of traditional crafts, textiles, martial arts, processional theatre, rituals and stage performances. Besides, there will be special arts and crafts workshops for school children to learn from the Artisans. The inaugural performance is the internationally acclaimed “Manganiyar Seduction” from Rajasthan, choreographed by the famous art director and composer Roysten Abel. Shri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Hans Raj Hans, and Shri Mohit Chauhan will regale the audience with their performances every evening.

LEELA : An Exhibition on Ramayana Tradition

The exhibition is built around philosophical, narrative, visual, pictorial and performing aspects of the Ramayana tradition in classical, folk and contemporary contexts. The theme is presented through manuscripts, sculptures, paintings including miniature painting, wooden, bronze, stone, terracotta arts & crafts, textiles, audio-visual and multimedia presentations. The exhibition has specifically designed installations to explain abstract philosophical concepts. One of the highlights of the exhibition is the exhibits from the collection of Kashi Naresh, Banaras and original Ramlila paraphernalia from the world acclaimed Ramnagar Ramlila. Museums all across the country are participating in the exhibition by loaning precious and rare exhibits from their collections. A special lecture series is also being organized around the theme of Ramayana. Special workshops for children are a part of this exhibition.

IGNCA Book Circle @ Reference Library

Under the Outreach initiative, the IGNCA Book Circle has a monthly event held on the fourth Thursday of every month from 4:00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.This month, it will be held on Friday, 24th November, 2017.

This month, Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri will be the Resource Person.   He is the Vice Chancellor of Central University, Dharmshala, H.P. His fifteen books are already published.  Dr. Agnihotri will read from his book Jammu Kashmir ke Jannayak: Maharaja Hari Singh.  This is the first book on Maharaja Hari Singh which opens new path from the pre defined conceptions.
