A Father’s Day Special

ThisFather’s Day special activity was planned to celebrate fatherhood in the museum. The underpinning thought was to encourage fathers to bring their kids to the museum.This was a special programme where the walk was structured around the prominent role of fathers in bringing up children. The walk was conducted by RC Vadodara in collaboration with Maharaja Fatesingh Museum, Vadodara.

Family Fun @ Maharaja Fatesingh Museum

To commemorate International Museum Day which is celebrated the world over on 18th May every year, a family programme was conducted by RC Vadodara in collaboration with the Maharaja Fatesingh Museum. It included a guided walk-through of the museum and shared anecdotes from the lives of various rulers from the Gaekwad family, the erstwhile rulers of Baroda. Prominently, it discussed the history and evolution of the city of Baroda and the contributions of the Gaekwads, till the present day context.

Buddhist Art: Symbolism and Mythology

The museum walk explored mythological stories and symbolism related to Buddhist art and philosophy. It began with historical narratives and various incidents from the life of Gautam Buddha and proceeded to explain the symbolic representations of these characters and images in the sculptures and other artworks displayed in the museum galleries. It was held by RC Vadodara in collaboration with the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, Vadodara.

Exhibition of SAMPARK Summer Camp

On the completion of the five-day summer camp SAMPARK 2019 (from 22nd-27th April), which was a collaboration between IGNCA Vadodara Regional Centre and the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, Vadodara, an exhibition was organised at the museum’s exhibition hall. The exhibition displayed the artworks created by the children during the camp.

SAMPARK Summer 2019

A five-day summer camp SAMPARK 2019 (from 22nd-27th April), was organised as a collaboration between IGNCA Regional Centre, Vadodara and the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, Vadodara for childrenaged 7-14 years. It included five activities: Mask-making, puppet making, origami, calligraphy and clay modelling. All the activities were designed around the museum’s collection on display.

PatanPatola- Silk Craft of Gujarat

The lecture was conducted by IGNCA Regional Centre, Vadodara in collaboration with the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery. The lecture began with a brief introduction to textiles in general and the peculiar characteristics of ‘PatanPatola’, followed by the screening of the documentary film on the topic. Mr.Salvi spoke on various aspects of the craft and displayed some of his Patola saris and natural die samples.

Resource Person : Dr. M. Balamani, an eminent art historian based in Baroda.
Guest of Honour : Mr.KannaiyalalSalvi, a master weaver of PatanPatola.

Africans in India: A Rediscovery a travelling exhibition

Africans in India: A Rediscovery a travelling exhibition put together by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi and the Schomburg Centre for Research in Black Culture, New York, retraces the lives and achievements of some of the talented and prominent Africans of yesterday who became an integral part of the socio-cultural heritage of India. In association with Faculty of Fine Arts, The M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara, the exhibition will be showcased at the Exhibition Hall and Pushpa Baug Building of the Faculty.

 The event will be inaugurated on 20 July 2015 by an eminent artist, Prof. Jyoti Bhatt at 5:00 p.m
