Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in collaboration with The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust and National Archives of India will commemorate the 100th year of Jalianwala Bagh massacre.

On April 13, 1919 more than one thousand innocent, unarmed people were killed in Jalianwala Bagh Amritsar by Brigadier General Dyer. They were fired upon for ten minutes without a warning while attending a peaceful meeting, and also celebrating the festival of Baisakhi. The horrific attack was the spark that lit the flame of India’s freedom struggle and united those determined to wrest the country’s independence from colonial rule.
