The film tries to decipher the Vaisnava, Buddhist, monastic and the oral community traditions behind masks and presents the social, theological and iconographical contexts of masks in North East India.

कलाकोश-विभाग की कलासमालोचना शृंखला के अन्तर्गत प्रकाशित ग्रन्थ है। जिसके अनुसन्धान का केन्द्र बिन्दु है – केलिमाल और नित्यविहार: सौन्दर्य-माधुर्य और रस की उपासना तथा आत्मा का सौन्दर्यशास्त्र है। यह मूलतः वृन्दावन के श्री स्वामी हरिदास की कृति केलिमाल पर केन्द्रित है, जिसमें जयदेव के गीतगोविन्द, विद्यापति की पदावली, रूपगोस्वामी का उज्ज्वलनीलमणि तथा हितचौरासी, सूरसागर, चण्डीदास इत्यादि की तुलनात्मक दृष्टि समायोजित है। रसदेश अनुसन्धान परियोजना के समन्वयक, सम्पादक और अध्येता डॉ. राजेन्द्र रंजन चतुर्वेदी हैं।
