Five-Day Oraon Painting Workshop

The workshop is being organised in collaboration with Budhu Veer Lurku Diya (School), Lohardaga.The programme will be graced by Shri Mahadev Toppo, noted writer and poet from Ranchi, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Niranjan Kumar Kujur, Film Director, Lohardaga, as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Kumar Sanjay Jha, Regional Director, IGNCA Regional Centre, Ranchi and Shri Sanjeev Bhagat, Principal Budhu Veer Lurku Diya (School) Merle, Lohardaga will mark their esteemed presence. Eminent art practitioners Mrs. Sumanti Bhagat and Ms. Preeti Bala Gari will participate as art experts, guiding the participants. The five-day Oraon Painting Workshop aims to promote and preserve indigenous artistic traditions, while encouraging participants to engage with the rich cultural heritage and visual expressions of the Oraon community.

Third Professor B.N. Saraswati Memorial Lecture

The lecture is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology, Vidyasagar University, Midnapore. The lecture will be graced by Professor Dipak Kr. Kar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Vidyasagar University as the Chief Guest. Professor Paresh Ch. Jana Dean (Actg.), Faculty of Science, Vidyasagar University as the Special Guest. Dr. Kumar Sanjay Jha, Regional Director, IGNCA RC- Ranchi as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Sumahan Bandyopadhyay, Professor & Head Department of Anthropology Director, CASM Vidyasagar University Editor, Man In India will be the Speaker of the lecture on the theme “Ingenious, Alternative, Indian: Anthropology of Baidyanath Saraswati” and Professor Onkar Prasad Former Dean, Vidya Bhavan Visva-Bharati as the Chair of the programme. The lecture aims to reflect on Professor Saraswati’s profound contributions to Indian anthropology, culture, and knowledge traditions, while inspiring scholars and students to engage with indigenous intellectual perspectives and cultural heritage.
